The Maphalane Disability Trust, registered in 2005, essentially is a Non-Profit Organisation, for the benefit of disabled communities and organization. It was founded by an entrepreneur and cum mining investor in both metals and furious minerals, who in 2001 solicited the partnership of Steve Maphalane a disability activist, a professional on disability and a Principal of a special needs school, known as Elizabeth Conradie in Kimberley.
We strive towards developing the lives of the disabled community on a long term basis. As part of the process and ensuring implementation of Legacy Projects, the trust prioritises sustainability in each project. We incorporate process plans as well as sustainability plans into each project. The intention is for our community to be independent and have the support from the strategic organisations as well as the relevant stakeholders. This process is driven by our Social Projects Department.
The MDT plans for uninterrupted growth and implement projects in line with the Integrated Development Program, National Development Plan as well as the National Disability Plan, so that models for further application can be created. This is done with the hope that some of the programmes at the Trust will eventually be used as models by other organisations in other disability structures.
